Opportunities
The following are some of the projects that Wehealth is working on that can be accelerated with grant funding. These involve public-private partnerships and may also have opportunities for new partners to join.
-
Expand Multi-lingual Health Communication
Funding Need: $$$
Description: AI-assisted, human translation and localization of the platform into additional languages, ensuring access to critical health and safety information for underserved communities worldwide. Outcomes will be measured before and after and improvements will be quantified.
Impact: 68M+ people in the United States speak a language other than English at home. Making vital information available in additional languages in real-time will help improve outcomes in these populations whose information needs are often underserved.
-
Interactive Text Alerts: Beyond Smartphones & Internet
Funding Need: $$$
Description: Wehealth aggregates verified information from multiple sources, enhances it and then delivers it to end users in a format that is easy to understand and actionable. This project will make all the content available over interactive text messages that can be delivered to non-smartphones and without internet access. Unlike solutions today that include a link in the text messages to get more information, these messages will include all information via text using interactive prompts. Community managers will be able to manage all content in one place and be confident that they are reaching everyone, everywhere with the exact same information.
Impact: Reach people beyond smartphones and internet access in 50+ languages.
-
Community Preparedness Toolkits
Funding Need: $$
Description: Even as we improve our reach in alerting people, it's important to provide the right action plans and useful context to help people respond effectively. There are many fragmented sources of information that can make access difficult and also introduce opportunities for disinformation to spread. We will curate, develop and translate human translated emergency preparedness guides tailored to communities with a focus on those most at risk.
Impact: Equip 100M+ households and individuals with tools to respond effectively to health and safety crises and improve preparedness and adaptation.
-
AI-Driven Risk Forecasting
Funding Need: $$$
Description: Wehealth brings together various sources of information, and enables structured two-way communication with the public. This project would build and refine models to predict localized health and safety risks, ranging from natural disasters to vector borne diseases enabling proactive responses by individuals and organizations.
Impact: Reduce risk exposure for 3,000+ county, city and territorial jurisdictions by delivering advanced early-warning systems.
-
Public Health Education Campaigns
Funding Need: $$
Description: Launch targeted campaigns addressing preventive steps, disaster preparedness, and mental health awareness.
Impact: Increase health literacy in vulnerable populations.
-
Cross-organizational Systems Change
Funding Need: $$
Description: Create coalitions that bring together various local organizations to collaborate on public communication and education using modern tools. Engage local communities to evaluate the systems usefulness, identify barriers to adoption and involve the community into co-developing new enhancements. Wehealth Portal, the administration system for public health agencies, will be enhanced to improve multi-jurisdictional and cross-domain collaboration, speed up decision making, and scale best practices.
Impact: Enable 50 local coalitions nationwide.
-
Geospatial Informatics and Awareness
Funding Need: $$
Description: Wehealth aggregates robust geospatial datasets and simplifies it for decision making and public communication. We will develop features for end users to contribute additional data and incorporate it into the decision making and assessment workflows. We will also enable local communities to create geocodes datasets to promote local resources.
Impact: Empower local public health jurisdictions to communicate with the public with improved geospatial awareness.
We invite partners, public officials, scientists, medical professionals, researchers, technologists and other experts to reach out if there are potential funding opportunities or collaborations that align.
